Arliss Newcomb
Port Hadlock, Washington

“Stone has an exciting aspect to it. Each stone, with its own particular shape, size or internal structure, is always a challenge. I enjoy the beauty and durability of stone. Knowing it will be here on this earth after I am gone.”
A wood carver for twenty-five years, Newcomb was given her first piece of stone in 1989 and hasn’t carved wood since.
Newcomb is currently the director of the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association. Her work has been exhibited nationally and in Mexico.
